How Often Should You Calibrate Measuring Instruments? ISO 17025 Standards Explained
One of the most common questions from factories and laboratories is how often measuring instruments should be calibrated. The answer depends on several factors including instrument type, frequency of use, and applicable standards.

ISO/IEC 17025 does not specify fixed calibration intervals but requires laboratories to establish appropriate calibration schedules based on usage. General recommendations are as follows.

Instruments used daily such as thermometers, pressure gauges, and multimeters should be calibrated every 6-12 months.

Instruments used occasionally should be calibrated every 12-24 months or before critical measurements.

Critical instruments such as medical devices should be calibrated every 6 months or as specified by the manufacturer.

Immediate recalibration is required after repair, after physical shock or impact, or when measurement results appear abnormal.

IMC provides comprehensive calibration services for all instrument types, accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by A2LA USA and TISI Thailand, with both In-house and On-site options available.
